Starting A Craft Business

A dear friend of mine and I are considering opening a craft shop. We are lucky to have a small space available in a high traffic area for next to nothing. Our big problem is being brave enough to quit our jobs and go out on our own. We would lose our Medical insurance which would be hard to replace. We have looked at Short term insurance as a solution, but wondered what experienced crafters do. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
